Experience matters - and it can show in a headshot.

“There’s no substitute for experience” – often when we’re young, we think we know everything and people with experience are out of touch, don’t understand, are stuck in their ways, etc.. As we get older and gain experience, we come to understand the value of experience. This is NOT a negative commentary on the younger generation – I think we need the combination of both to thrive and continue to learn from each other.

Sandrine has worked for Fortune, CNN, Turner, Fox, and Viacom in analytics and strategic roles – talk about experience! So when we discussed the look for her headshot, experience was one of the primary impressions we wanted her headshot to demonstrate and emphasize. That along with energy, intelligence, and approachability.

We started with clothing choices – a darker jacket and lighter colored blouse. The darker outer garment contrasts nicely with her skin tone/hair, as well as her blouse, and is definitely a business look – not stuffy, but definitely professional. I tend to gravitate towards darker colored backgrounds (I do shoot white and also like that look as well, but it’s a different feel) as I think people contrast well against it. The human eye naturally gravitates towards lighter areas of a photograph, so a darker background inherently focuses the viewers eye on the subject’s face.

The biggest impression comes from her expression - you can see the confidence in her eyes combined with her smile – she looks like she knows her stuff!!!! And having met/worked with her, I can confidently say she’s the real deal!
