Branding and Headshots

When most people think of a brand, they think of a company/business such as Apple, Nike, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. - but smaller businesses, and yes, individuals also have a brand, whether deliberate or not. And your headshot on your LinkedIn Profile is a key element of that brand.

When you think of a brand such as Apple, what comes to mind? Apple is very deliberate about how they want to be perceived –their brand evokes feelings like modern, reliable, creative, innovative, personal. If you have a business website, a LinkedIn profile, a social media presence, etc. you already have a brand. And a major element of that brand is your headshot.

For businesses, The most visited page on a business website is the “about section”, usually where the leadership team is highlighted. For individuals, the first thing someone sees when visiting your LinkedIn profile is your profile picture. In both cases, a first impression is formed in as little as 80 milliseconds – and That impression stays with the viewer as they start to explore more about you or your business.

That first impression is particularly important for people/businesses in professional services – legal, financial, healthcare, where people ARE the product/business.
