A Great Idea for Sales Teams
One of the biggest time consuming tasks salespeople have is getting in front of clients – people answer their phones less and less, don’t respond to voicemails or emails. Even having conversations with existing clients can be a challenge, even if it’s just to check in or provide important updates/information.
HSA Bank contacted me with a brilliant idea – offer a headshot day at an existing clients’ workplace. The account team would be there to introduce themselves to those they haven’t met, have conversations and the clients would get a professionally done headshot. If you’ve gone to trade shows, you’ve likely seen headshot stations in a vendor’s booth to attract people. The idea here was to take that to the next level, where volume isn’t as important as quality – both for the resultant headshots and the conversations with the client.
Aon PLC is likely one of those larger companies you may never have heard of – they are “In the business of Making Better Decisions” providing consulting and products/services in 2 primary areas, Risk Capital (think of all kinds of insurance and capital) and Human Capital (everything from benefits, pay equity, employee engagement/retention, etc). All are increasingly important topics today given how the workplace is evolving, along with the increasing complexity of growing a business.
Sponsored by HSA Bank and Empyrean, I had the great pleasure to work with Aon’s Boston office team for a headshot day recently. The images below are from that session, but what was key was the conversations the HSA Bank team had with their clients (we were in the same room and I overheard some of what was said). Not only were there first time meetings, but also follow on appointments/meetings scheduled. As a former sales manager and sales person, I could appreciate the value of those conversations and thought what a brilliant idea!
For the sessions themselves, each person was coached, got to review the images as we were working, and made final selections at the end of their session. Final retouched images (not done by AI nor outsourced!) were delivered in multiple formats, including for LinkedIn, after the day was completed. People had fun, got great images – but more importantly have something that they will value. A win-win for everyone!
